My first tournament of 2025 was a fundraiser for the NC State Wolfpack Disc Golf team. It was a flex at The Patriot, on the blue (long) tees. I played MA3.
I struggle on the blues. I don’t have the distance to get within birdie position typically. So for me the strategy is bogey avoidance. Staying below double-digits is the goal.
I came out pretty hot and was only +2 through 9. For a moment I thought I might be on track to shoot a PB on the longs. But I knew the back nine were harder, and sure enough, it got me and I bled strokes.
I managed to finish +9 which was 879 rated. There were only two competitors in MA3 and I managed to score better than my competitor, so it is listed as a win, but… I’m confident had more been in the field, that score would not have held up. I should be happy, but to be honest, I feel I let a great round and rating slip through my fingers.
