On March 22 three friends and I played a single round flex-start tournament called “The Glides of March” at Pluck Farm/Steel String Brewery.
I’ve played this course a few times before (once a glow round). We played MA3, and my only real objective was to shoot well enough to improve my rating and achieve my goal of ‘850 by 50’.
Sadly, I struggled at the beginning and was +3 through 3. This made me very frustrated and I could feel myself becoming discouraged. But one of my other goals is to be more resilient. So I buckled down and managed to stay out of trouble for the most part, despite it being a windy day. Through 17 I was only +4. I make a point not to look at scores but because my friends were on the card, I got the impression that I was in contention with them.
But I fumbled the par 3 #18 badly, botching a basic upshot to give myself a long C2 for par and then going long, giving myself a 15 footer for bogey which I shorted. The end result was I shot a +6, which was 841 rated. Two of my friends shot +4 which was 864 rated and ended up being tied for 4th.
